San Antonio Family & Birth Photographer + Videographer

Storytelling your life from the start of it. Celebrating your everyday like an adventure.

For the families who want moments beyond the ‘Say cheese and smile’

I’m not pushy about a lot of things but being IN the photos is one of them. And it’s as much about you, as it is about them. All the people in your life that love you. Because we don’t get do overs. This is our shot at it. Take the pictures.

So what does birth, family photography and…checks notes…military events have in common? Ultimately, as cliche as it sounds, I document life. Not in the overly posed, hair and makeup on point kind of way but in the playful, hang with your family and lets go see what your toddler wants to explore kind of way.

“Sarah, they are all amazing. It’s so rare to have someone capture the essence of who we are at our core and not just a smile for the sake of a photo. ”

--Brenda

Hi, I’m Sarah. Thanks for stopping by

My kids are feral and

I love the heck out of birth.

I follow my husband around the world like a total creeper…next stop Austin, Texas! Our family calls basically everything an adventure, its one of our hacks to thriving as a military family. I always hoped I’d be a boy mom, I live off of cold brew and pet snuggles and I think life is beautiful in the dichotomy of the highs and lows we get to experience together.

When photos aren’t enough…let’s add videos!

When I think of family films I think of someone walking around with a handy cam capturing the nostalgia that is growing up. Now this isn’t quite like that, can you imagine if I showed up with a handy cam?!?! But that’s the feeling I hope to evoke...with an artful and cinematic twist.

Birth or a day in your life, films are for families who get how fleeting these moments are.

Photos make you pause, films make you cry. I’m not saying my whole goal here is to make you cry but, there’s a level of emotion captured in films thats unmatched. And…if you do cry, that’s usually a good marker. Creating a little moving capsule your future self will thank you for.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Spoiler alert…I don’t expect them to.

I approach sessions with the idea that tiny humans have big feelings and ultimately, they run the show. We play, I prompt. If they ignore me I take zero offense and we move on. After all these years I’ve learned that one of the biggest keys to a successful session is how we react when tiny humans inevitably become feral.

So if you must bribe them, that’s fine but, I always suggest they get prepped not to sit still and smile but to expect that we’re about to have fun and play and someone will be there to take pictures of it. And if we’re doing this in your home, I will be ready to bring all the excitement and interest in being shown ALL the toys and the things so they feel important and involved in this process.

  • As a human, this took me so long to master for my own family…so I get.

I have a style guide I send out to all clients as a start and am always here to provide input specifically about your outfit choices. I also have a small client closet that can help supplement outfits for the family.

Its truly not as daunting as it feels and even though you can totally dress up, there’s no rule that is had to be anything out of the ordinary.

  • This is another one of those points that I do my best to offer options to.

In general, traditional sessions happen around sunrise and sunset. Specific times change throughout the year and if you have an early bedtime maybe fall or winter is better. Sunrise can be early and not for everyone but if your family is an early riser I promise its one of the best ways to get scenic locations without sharing it with everyone else.

If you’re looking for an in-home session the time is so much more flexible. Day in the life can occur anytime and newborn sessions can be scheduled around big sibling nap times.

And if you’re looking for something fun, dramatic or non-traditional I’m always down for some midday harsh light adventures!

  • I LOVE sharing my work. As a forever social worker at heart, I feel like photography can always be a means to advocate. It can help normalize motherhood, it celebrates birth and it has the ability to showcase that families come in all shapes and sizes.

Ultimately though, you are hiring me to document YOUR family and you always have say in what stays private and what gets shared. I send a model release for every session and each family is able to select what’s best for them as far as image sharing.
