Casual Couples Photos on the San Antonio Riverwalk
New to San Antonio, one of the first places I wanted to visit was the Riverwalk. A river through the city with a pedestrian walkway, magical evening lights, a boat tour, historic sites like the Alamo nearby….magical. For cityscapes in San Antonio, this is one the iconic spaces for family and couple photos. You can dress up, dress down, enjoy ice cream and sightsee or just pretend you’re on the streets of Italy.
What do you need to know about taking photos on the Riverwalk?
For any photo session in the city, timing is important.
Despite it being populated with people all around, there are so many ways to make it feel like its just you and your family. Early mornings are magical, weekdays can help miss the weekend crowds and there’s always little hidden nooks that feel off the beaten path with a beautiful backdrops just the same.
Unique photos that don’t look like everyone else’s?
First, YOU are the magic for photos. I swear the secret sauce to amazing images is being open to loving your partner and your family (and sometimes just ignore me). I love setting up sessions finding something unique to you and your family that we can celebrate together. A special location, or just being intentional about being comfy and casual. If you’re looking for unique though, the riverwalk is a spot where 5 sessions can look like they’re taken in totaly different spots.
Downtown streets are always perfect for couples.
Walk the streets, get ice cream and coffee? Great!
Adults can watch traffic, not jump in the water (though I’ve heard of stories of drunken antics…please don’t add to the statistics) AND we can have so much fun being playful roaming around.
