Document your every day, in-home family photos
I don’t know how we got to this place of beautiful background and coordinated outfits for family photos. I guess there’s always been a bit of production since the first family photo was taken. There has always been a part of me though that felt nostalgic towards the printed film photos we had of my youth growing up. I appreciated visiting my grandparents home and walking their hallways to peruse their almost floor to ceiling display of their start, their children and grandchildren. Memories that showed me a life of who came before me long before I was born. Its this gratitude then of seeing them and now my reality having lost both grandparents and my mother that there is a sense of tangible peace I have looking back at photos. Sometimes I wish I had asked more questions about these snapshots in time, to get the story behind the frame. Even though I can’t now, I am forever thankful that someone on that day picked up a camera and clicked the shutter.
So while I love the event planning that is your beautiful backdrop photos, I will always lean in to these simple everyday moments. To find the beauty of the now. The ability to gift these moments to ourselves and our children. Its a gift being able to do in-home family photos and adventure with you in day in the life sessions all over the world and can’t wait to see what memories we make together here in El Paso, TX.
One of the things I love most about in home sessions is…
This is your safe space. The space that your kiddos can be themselves in. The space where when all the big things in the world get too much, you can find your peace.
Another super convenient part of documenting your life as it unfolds…
If you have tiny humans who need extra time to warm up, you got it
If you have a furry family member you’ve always wanted to include but never wanted to hassle with taking out, you got it
If you just want to hang out at home and celebrate the season in comfort, you got it
I think sometimes we get into this idea that the only thing worth photographing are those family photos we plan for special moments, for holiday cards, for anniversaries and family reunions. And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE these. I lvoe commemorating the birth of a new baby or celebrating the times you get all the extended family together. The fleeting moments are the ones we don’t give much thought to as they happen but that hold the most weight in our stories. Bubble baths and ‘just one more’ book reads that your children will reflect back on when they think of their childhood.
Bubble baths and soap beards
Some kids will always dread the going out and dressing up…but I haven’t met a kid yet who can stay grumpy through doing their favorite things in their own home and space
The amazing thing about in-home sessions is also stepping back and remembering the space as you see it. Being IN the photos is just as important as remembering what your world looks like in your now. These sweet siblings in these moments now, the big brother caretaker, will likely grow in their independence and tensions will ebb and flow and personalities will grow and challenge but there will always be a reminder of how they were when they were little.
And lets be real
When you’ve had a long day…bribing them will sweet snacks is so much easier when you can just walk to your pantry for their favorite treats!
