Fresh 48 photos at a military hospital
I get it. Sometimes in this journey of motherhood some folks (shockingly so…I know) don’t want birth photography but you want to fresh postpartum photos.
I’m biased, I think its amazing but I can understand that its a bit much for some. If you’ve had a baby you know those moments are like a time machine. Within hours your baby starts looking different. And days later those details are already changing so drastically. Sometimes we’re thrilled at this when the fear of that forever conehead subsides, other times though it just makes us realize how fast this all happens.
One moment you’re wondering how you’re going to make it through labor, the next you’re holding a newborn baby like what the heck just happened and then next they’re saying you’re adult enough to take this life home and sustain it on your own. Like WHAT?!?!?!
So if you really love the idea of capturing truly fresh newborn moments in a beautiful, organic, relaxed, carefree way…then a Fresh 48 session might be what you’re looking for.
These are wherever baby is born. Home birth? Awesome, I’ll see you at your casa! Hospital? I’ll be there too. If you birthed in your car on an elevator (its happened) I’ll meet you wherever you’re resting post birth.
In-hospital photos can be a GREAT way to document big kids meeting baby but…
It’s also a super special way to commemorate a new chapter. This family decided they wanted to take the time to document their newest baby entering their family without the excitement and energy of all their other kiddos around. Just the three of them, soaking in these moments together one last time.
It might not seem like a fairy tale, these sterile hospital environments
But its the realness and rawness of it all that contains the true beauty of it. You don’t have to get dolled up. You don’t even have to wear pants…those mesh postpartum underwear are a total vibe. And you don’t even have to roam around too far. I come to you. You can stay in bed the whole time. Your whole job is just to snuggle.
Photos of breastfeeding, diaper changes,
umbilical cords, postpartum bellies, messy mother and baby rooms
It can feel vulnerable to document these moments. And yeah, I LOVE sharing and normalizing them because they’re amazing. But these moments are truly for you. If they get printed out, or stored on your computer (I do not recommend) and come out to gaze through each month as your baby grows, I promise you won’t regret taking these.
And newborn images are for the Dad’s too..
I mean, you birth the baby…we do the heavy lifting FOR SURE. But these moments are for the whole family. And the slowness and stillness of being in the hospital during a newborn session means we have ample time to let dad’s and the whole family get snuggles.
